Good luck Flamenco shoes!

Bella starts Flamenco dance class on Tuesday, and we spent much of today searching for shoes. She's never had shoes with hard heels, and I would have gotten a cheap pair of "character" shoes for her, if I could have found them. But lo and behold! One shop (the fourth one we tried) had ONE pair of real Flamenco shoes, with "nails" in the heels and toes, in exactly Bella's size. Leather, not plastic like the character shoes. And reduced from $105 to $40! All the sales people crowded around to cheer. At last someone had been found for that one lonely pair of shoes.

I thought about the omens surrounding shoes: the Wizard of Oz and Ruby Slippers, Cinderella and the glass shoe. One pair of Flamenco shoes in the city of Portland and they are exactly Bella's size. Could be an omen. We'll see.

In the extras (new extras!) a photo of the NO WAR ON IRAN rally last night (300 people in a very dark space), and a photo of bella in the shop, trying on the magical shoes (with mismatched socks, because why not).
