Thanks a lot folks for your responses yesterday to my question about using film. That was most helpful. I shall continue to mull it over. Given that I use the discipline of a daily photo to help keep my brain functioning perhaps using film AS WELL, might give me another area to explore rather than feeling very pedestrian as I sometimes do.  I'll continue the conversation with you all and let you know where I go with it.  Having Phil on my doorstep is a great asset. He talked yesterday about all the very good old film camera's he has rolling in.
