snow bench in the dark

Don't know what attracted me to this bench. I think it is the fact it faces a huge tree, no view just a big tree. Which came first the bench or the tree? Is this a stupid question? It must be the tree but why then stick a bench almost in it? I'd love to get to the bottom of this.
