Went for a five-kilometre walk this afternoon - something I am trying to make a daily habit.
The difference between February last year and now is incredible. The spot I am standing would have had water above my head. Now, the mud is dry and cracked. The many waterbirds in the area are no doubt struggling.
An interesting excerpt from the book I am currently reading. This was well before climate change consensus had been reached. At least it was being thought about.
Politicians are primarily concerned about the acute local effects of air pollution on human health. But there are global effects to be concerned about as well, and these may be greater threats in the long run. The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased by ten per cent since the turn of the century. It comes from every concentration of human activity anywhere on the earth. No one knows what effects, if any, this is having on climate.
