Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside

I found these Mallard or Wild Duck (Anas platyrhynchos) having fun in the surf this afternoon.
It was bitter cold on land today so I wouldn't want to be them riding the waves.

I suppose most people think of mallards as being a fresh-water duck but in truth, they are often to be found foraging along our shorelines. Don't they realise that free food is on offer every afternoon at the pond in our local park? There seems to be a never-ending procession of child carers turning up with their charges and a half-loaf.
