Yawn

If you've ever wondered what's inside a Little Egret's beak, now you know! When Polly and I left home at lunchtime to go to the park, there was a red kite flying low over the end of our road.  When we got to the park there was a group of dog walkers staring up at a low-flying red kite over the trees; it may have been the same one. When we got to the pond there were two Little Egrets perching in trees. Unfortunately, as usual, I couldn't get a picture of them together so I've opted for this one yawning instead (a bit grainy, I'm afraid, due to the dismal light here today).

I stood and watched them for about 10 minutes and they didn't seem to mind either me, Polly, or the camera, so I guess they're getting used to us. I must pop down soon to see if the egrets in the horse field have indeed moved on, following their lack of presence the other day. Also, if I find the time, the birding community has been sharing pictures of a big group of Cattle Egrets in Sidlesham, which I'd love to see.
