Head from The Ring
This is a close up of the one of the heads from a rather wonderful sculpture in Perth High street called The Ring. (Two bronze men looking as if they are leaning on a stainless steel ring but in fact are holding it up) It is the work of the sculptor David Annand and was inspired by William Soutar's poem 'Na Dae See Dark' which is engraved on the inside of the ring. I gather not many understand the connection. This head is blindfold so that is a start, but what an interesting expression, I cant quite make out what it portrays.
I decided to make the rather overly busy background all one colour to improve the overall blip!
Now changed the background colour!
Nae day sae dark; nae wüd sae bare;
Nae grund sae stour wi' stane;
But licht comes through; a sang is there;
A glint o' grass is green.
Wha hasna thol'd his thorter'd hours
And kent, whan they were by,
The tenderness o' life that fleurs
Rock-fast in misery?
If it is at all obvious to anyone i would love to know the connection!
