We don't have blue jays in our area but we have a close relative called the Steller's jay.  When I put the seeds out in the morning, it's often quite a fight between the birds and at times I may have 4 or 5 of them on our ledge.  They always look slightly angry and protest loudly at times if I've not got food out early enough for them.
