Maquette for Crying Giant

A visit to the Hunterian Art Gallery and I was struck by this piece in a temporary exhibition by Tom Otterness (1952 - ).

The description is:

" This piece was the artist Tom Otterness's response to the appalling destruction of the World Trade Center Building destroyed in 2001 in the 9/11 attacks.  A full-size version of the figure is at the Kemper Museum of Art in Kansas.  The Giant resembles the Prophet Jeremiah, whose Lamentations for the Destruction of Jerusalem are important in Jewish as well as Christian services."

I was really touched by it.
