The Artist's Eye

City Light - City Bright

It was Seattle Symphony day today. Shelly and I got up early and headed to catch the bus to Seattle with the gang from the WWU Friends of the Music Library who travel to Seattle five times a year to enjoy the Symphony. Today was a real treat. We heard three pieces conducted by a young conductor named Maxim Emelyanychev. The concert began with  "Figaro Gets a Divorce Orchestral Suite" by Elena Langer. I'm not always a fan of new music but this piece was a kick. Both Shelly and I really liked it. Then we heard Jean-Efflam Bavouzet play Beethoven's Emperor piano concerto. That was phenomenal and very moving. The concert ended with Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony. The whole concert was a treat.

My photo is of a manhole cover we pass every time we go to the symphony. I've been wanting to photograph it and today I did.

Checked out manhole covers online thanks to comments... thanks ladies.
I found this on pinterest: This manhole cover is "by Nancy Blum. There are thousands of manhole covers on the streets of Seattle. Some of them, 115 to be exact, are official works of art." (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/33425222207623285/)
