The Genie's Out Of The Bottle
Someone let the genie out of the bottle and then just tossed it away.
Every bit of litter, I was taught, and then I taught, ends up in one of our oceans eventually.
It was a lot easier for the kids in Maryland to understand that concept because we lived on a peninsula between the Potomac and Patuxant Rivers which flowed at the western side and south end into the Chesapeake Bay. So they could see close up and personally how it worked.
It's a lot harder to explain that to desert dwellers. But when you think about it, in some respects, we are all surounded by some nearby water that eventually flows into the oceans, be it streams, gulfs, bays, rivers or brooks.
Here, it will lead to the Colorado River or the Gulf of California and eventually the Pacific ocean. But the loose litter will have a long journey until then.
