A Special Place

Longshaw today. It was overcast all day and the wind was biting. Despite this, there were lots of people out walking. As visitors head back, they often drop in to the Welcome building for a chat. I usually ask if they’ve had an enjoyable walk and they almost always enthuse about the place. One young couple called in and I asked my usual question. They were both smiling from ear to ear and in response, the young woman said that she couldn’t wait to tell someone; holding out her hand she showed me a diamond ring. “We’re engaged”. I was delighted to be the first person to hear their news.
