Paws for thought

It's been one of those long dark, dreich rainy Scottish days, barely getting light until 9 o clock this morning and by 4 pm dark again.

To compound the winter misery we had a power cut. The electric went off just before eight o' clock this morning . So we got up to a cold house without lights.

Well a quick check on Google revealed it was a blackout in our area and power would be restored around 11 am.

This was later amended to 1 p.m when suddenly around midday it came back on. But half an hour later it was off again ....

How on earth did our parents and grandparents manage without electricity?
