Old tech

This seemed so modern at the time, over 20 years ago.  We want to convert the old tapes to digital, but how to do it?  I was hesitant about using the old camcorder as a player, for fear it would eat the tapes, but it seems OK playing back on the TV.  Now to find the gubbins to connect it to the computer ...
