Crystals

We were promised 3 to 6 inches of snow last night, but I woke up to a crystal clear cold day--snowless. I did find these weird ice crystals in the lot next door. They are breaking ground for a new house, and the clayey soil had been saturated with over a week's worth of rain. Then the temperature dropped and these ice crystals separated out from the mud. I have never seen anything like it before.
