Assorted rocks

Our village, Newburgh on Ythan, was once a busy port with a 300 foot long quay and associated corn mill and warehouses.  One of its main attractions to maritime traders were the cheap harbour dues compared to the nearby port of Aberdeen. This so incensed the Aberdeen Town Council that in 1573 they took the law into their own hands and arrested and immobilised Newburgh's trading vessels by confiscating their sails. 

Those glory days are long gone but one of the warehouses survives. It was built from whatever rocks they could find to hand and is a veritable museum of the local geology.
