Christmas Lunch

No you’re not seeing things. We really did do it today, 17 days late.

I came downstairs at half past seven to find The Dizzle wearing nothing but orange underpants and dancing in the kitchen to Slade’s Merry Christmas. By 8.30 I had prepared the veg, bread sauce and gravy and we were on a roll.

TSM produced an amazing vegan seitan dish and we had turkey, mushroom and haloumi pie, and all the trimmings (even crackers). This wasn’t just Christmas, it was therapeutic healing, the reclaiming of loss and the mending of recent trauma (partly at least). There was laughter and party games, far too many helpings of pudding, and a lot of washing up.
