Wet and windy by Stonea Camp

The lowest hill fort in Britain at about 2mtrs above sea level. It appears to have been the site of a battle between Iceni and Romans and a Roman town was built to the north of here. The town was however a very rare failure as a Roman town as it was too out of the way for trade and communications. The Romans built a road nearby, the Fen causeway, but it wasn't good enough and reverted to farmland before the end of the Roman period. The ditches and banks were restored in 1991as many had been bulldozed flat in the 1960's with the aid of agricultural grants offered to reclaim and drain land to increase arable areas.
The extra is a cabinet meeting on top of the dung heap where the cream of sheep society stop to discuss what should be done with the peasant sheep who wish they could just get on with grazing.
