Line astern
For our first day walk in weeks, we went to Loch Leven. The day ended wet, but we were well-rewarded.
This family of mute swans flew in as soon as we entered the hide near Kinross, and swam past in neat formation. Then I saw a stoat run across the path in front of us.
Finally, and best of all, we heard a commotion in nearby trees and saw a large bird with broad white wings fly off. Only when I got home did I discover that a great white egret has been seen just where we were (Burleigh Sands). From the size, I think it must have been a great egret, not a little egret, although there are some of these at Loch Leven too. Even a little egret would have been new to us.
