They Say Every Picture Tells A Story
But I am not sure what story to tell...
We're off for a short vacation in the sun, before our long haul flight we thought we'd stop over in Gatwick to save an early flight down, so it was an early evening flight from Edinburgh.
Picture/Story 1. Aw, our first overseas holiday without Ms H, despite the free seat next to us :-( Miss you Ms H, but someone has to look after the cats!
Picture/Story 2. Ah... wait a minute, we just landed in Bristol. Our approach to Gatwick was a bit windy to say the least. We've not experienced it that bad before, Mrs C was squeezing me arm for about 20 mins until the pilot aborted landing and took off again. After 20 mins of circling, they said they would divert to Bristol, 150 miles away. Landed in Bristol where it was calmer somewhat and waited in the plane while options were considered. "Did we want to get off the plan and make our own way to Gatwick without luggage and arranging our own transport or fly back to Gatwick?" OMG, what are you asking me! The first option puts our vacation at risk... well Mrs C was up for it, so we stayed on board. Maybe 15 people got off. This is us about to take off again...
Picture/Story 3: Right... this is us landed at Gatwick... let's get that out of the way first. On terra firma, great to see you again. The flight lasted 30 mins and was the second worst flight we've had. You've worked out that the worst flight was in Picture/Story 2 right? Oh man... I mean obviously it was worse 'cos we kinda knew what to expect and our distress was already oven ready, so to speak. We were supposed to get here at 9.20pm, instead it was 12:30am. We are a bit tired, but have calmed down I think.
Tomorrow the wind speed looks about half what it was tonight, and it's a bigger plane to not so wobbly yeah. That's what we told ourselves, please don't correct us. Writing this makes me feel better... it's just a funny story yeah?
Anyway, me Mam will be reading this... we are ok Mam, The pilots know what they are doing. We'll be ok and in the sun tomorrow this time.
Zzzzzz....
