A whale of a time
The wind has abated a little and so off to take the dog for a stroll. This little beast (just under 6m long) has not fared too well and was washed up on the beach at Baleshare.
I reported it to the relevant person and ended up a few hours later revisiting it to measure it and to "take samples". The latter involved cutting off some skin, some blubber and some muscle. Not as smelly as it mght have been but I wasn't tempted with the BBQ.
Cuvier's Beaked Whale is the prognosis and there might even be a team coming out at the wekeend to perform a post-mortem. They have not been having a great timne recently with 75 being washed up on British beaches in the Autumn of 2108, possibly it is thought as a result of naval sonar activities.
