Hanging a Pipe

My Dad always used to tell me, “ look at the moon, an Indian can hang his pipe there tonight!”
I do not know if the moon is quite at the “sliver with a hook on” yet, but it is close!
In the States there is a lot of Indian lore hence we have lots of expressions relating to them. (unfortunately many of them are not flattering.)
