Royal Greenwich Observatory.......

... Herstmonceux. Another local attraction. Set up in the late 40s when it was decided that the London smog was detrimental to effective stargazing. Now its been decided that the dodgy East Sussex weather doesn't suit, so they've up and gone to a mountain top site in Gran Canaria. The great thing for us is they've left all the kit, as well as a super knowledgeable and helpful staff. Really terrific facility. You need a clear night though.
