How Thrilling

One of the disadvantages of living in this lovely building is that it is now 20 years old, and that means that certain systems are beginning to wear out.  Imagine our excitement when not one, not two, but THREE heat pumps (the equipment that provides heat and air conditioning) died almost simultaneously just before Christmas -- two here in our apartment, and one in the new place. 

Today the first of the replacement pumps is being installed -- it seems to be quite a complicated and time-consuming process.  The technician (who absolutely REEKS of cigarette smoke) will have to return again tomorrow, and once again on Thursday to complete the job.
