Easily Broken

A clutch of decaying weeds snapped under the weight of heavy snow cling to the log that once provided a support. I think it was the stark contrast between brittle vegetation and bright white smooth snow that appealed to me.

Underneath the inclined log, the sloping line of snow runs in a counter direction and the two provide somewhat of a frame for the weeds and give the image a structure.

In order to show the snow on top of the log, I burnt in the area beyond to darken it. Under the log required significant brightening because of the dynamic range.
