Dublin
We got the 06:50 enterprise from belfast central to Dublin Connolly this morning. Got off the train and made our way to
O'connell street where we had some breakfast and left our bags at a left luggage cafe
We then hopped on the tour bus and made our way to the Guinness Storehouse where we learnt about the process of making Guinness and were taught how to pull the perfect pint. We went up to the Gravity bar where we got 360 degree view of Dublin city. It was quite cloudy but we could still make out the Wicklow mountains in the distance
We had some lunch in Guinness and got on the tour bus again to Kilmainham Gaol
We had a look around the museum and then had a guided tour of the gaol
The gaol was freezing cold! The gaol was where most of the rebels from the 1916 rising were held and executed (except eamon de Valera and countess markievicz who escaped execution). We found the gaol very interesting but it was from a very republican viewpoint. Personally I would have liked to have heard some more about some of the other inmates and the petty crimes they were imprisoned for.
After the gaol we got on the tour bus around the city again and got off on o'connell street.
We collected our bags and checked into our hotel.
We chilled in our room for a while and then headed down to Henry street to see if I could get my phone fixed and to see if they have the network EE down south as my friend had no service.
We had a bit of a nosey round the shops and tried to phone home again from the pay phones but couldn't get through so we went back to our hotel to ring from the phone in our room
After we phoned home to let our parents know we were alive we headed to the Parnell bar just down from our hotel to have dinner and a few drinks.
We came back to our hotel and we were both so exhausted we crashed out just after 11pm!
