Black Isle

Supporting a quad at the Puffer again this year. It got off to a very cold, wet, sleety start, and we decided at the last minute to bail on attending it due to the parking situation (too long a walk in pissing rain for people with short legs). So it was hot chocolate in the deli at Strathpeffer instead. We made it along later for a while, but the walk from the Munro car park was still a bit hard on the smallest one, who needed a fair bit of carrying. The middlest cousins played very well and equitably today.

I spent a very geeky two hours admiring the stars this evening (from indoors), and learning a few more constellations. It was actually more difficult with more stars visible! Anyway, I had a good view of Gemini, Orion, Auriga and Taurus, all easy to spot, followed by more difficult-to-figure-out stuff around Cassiopeia - Cepheus, plus bits of Ursa Minor, Draco and Cynus. The stars really do blow my mind. I never get tired of the fact we are looking back in time.

Oh to be a spaceman (jelly).
