Glorious goat
Saw a few of these on my wanderings back on Ben Lomond this morning, had heard tell of the wild goats so I was happy to come across them this time. Decided to take the gondola down the last steep bit in an attempt to save the knees although I think my fear of heights is making a bid to come back. Nervously chatting to myself all the way down I gratefully exited only to realise I had left my walking poles at the top. (yes Leila, they went for another adventure) Had hoped someone might be able to just send them down, but no, I had to go all the way up and all the way back down again. Thankfully they didn’t charge me for that dubious pleasure.
Off tramping again tomorrow and to prevent a recurrence of the sandfly damage to my feet and ankles I popped into the charity shop next door for some long socks, charmingly named ‘Happiness House’. I picked the right day to pop in. Not only did I find socks but also a very lightweight high spec raincoat which is one of the few bits of kit I still needed. They charge by how much space your items take up in a basket so that all cost me the grand total of £2.50. I then sat and had a cup of tea and chat with the lady working there who also insisted I take a bag of goodies from the local bakery donation and a bag of cherries from the local fruit farm donation. Best ‘just pop into the charity shop’ moment ever, and indeed the house to go to for some happiness.
