rock art

Inspired by our visits to the rock art at cairnbaan and Kilmartin last year, today we went to visit a site nearer to home. This is at High Banks Farm, near Kirkcudbright. We discovered it in a book which D bought me for Christmas, called "The Old Stones" and published by The Megalithic Portal. Their website (click on the link) is a brilliant web-based resource for anyone who is interested in Megalithic sites worldwide.

The rock art did not disappoint (see extras for more detail) and the bright sunshine low in the sky helped with photography.

We visited Joe during his lunch hour in Castle Douglas on the way home.

Now D is out at a Community Council meeting so I have a quiet evening to myself :-)
