The floozie in the herbaceous border

Formerly the floozie in the jacuzzi, but after fountain failures the city council gave up and remodelled the fountain as a planted area. She looks as if she has lain on something rather prickly in her bath-tub.

I was in Birmingham to hear some presentations on a hot topic of the moment. I came away very concerned, questions to ask.

The venue was The Council House, which forms the backdrop in the extra. Rather a fine statue of Queen Victoria, in the Square bearing her name. The Square was remodelled in the 1990’s, with the floozie forming the centre-piece. Opened by Princess Diana in 1994, some modern pop sculpture has a cartoonish feel, contrasting with the seriousness of the 19th century. Modern times.
