beech and ivy
I had to add Flash to this scene to get this shot on another murky day.
4:30am I was up to help mum and found no running water. This is becoming an all too regular occurrence in recent years, so much so that we always make sure we have two jugs full in reserve.
It has taken all day for United Utilities to announce they have fixed what looked like a very complex problem with holes dug in two streets and a third closed to allow the water on wheels tankers to keep some water flowing. They did well at keeping us informed but the fact they do it so well is due to plenty practice.
Song Thrush singing at daybreak and one in the park when I took the photo. The garden was full birds with many Great Tits and Blackbird also noticed by Lily the cat from down the street who needed a good talking to before she went home.
Fed up with visiting the Supermarkets we are trying deliveries from Ocado. Today the first emails and texts of the days were about problems and delays in delivery (something usual for Ocado) 2 hours late predicted.
We tried Ocado quite a regularly many years ago but gave up disappointed by the condition many items arrived in. At that time we did send feedback and even requested and were given refunds for a few items that were in such a bad state - but who wants that bother. We then started just ordering tinned and packet goods but minimum order levels meant we soon stopped.
We had a success with an order before Christmas and have repeated twice since latest today back to buying everything we really want from potatoes to bird seed and it all seems to have worked well in comparison. 2 hours late but exactly so just missed the school run chaos.
I met and talked to some neighbours- still saying Happy New Year to one.
In the evening I browsed through the films on Amazon Prime ... I pay for this but never seem to watch all of anything on there. Tonight I found a favourite old movie Comfort and Joy. Just watched the start Glasgow street scenes and moving traffic over the motorway bridge towards the airport ... it all looks great. Bill Paterson is the local lightweight DJ trying to be the heavyweight journalist investigating the Ice Cream wars. It has its faults but the good bits are great and yes I’ll be watching it all the way through.
