Puddin’

Torn between 2 photos today.  The extra is of a disintegrated plastic bag from the attic.  Shows how long it’s been since I tackled that corner of the room.

What won out was the haggis at tonight’s Burns Supper to support the Eric Liddell centre..  It is a community centre with a special focus on dementia. The speakers were from political backgrounds.  The first elected Green Parliamentarian who did Holy Willie’s Prayer (dressed up as wee Willie Winkie);  a Tory activist and businesswoman (who replied to the Toast to the Lassies);a labour MSP who gave the toast to the Lassies; and The local labour MP.

The latter is the sole Labour MP in Scotland, Ian Murray, who is standing for the position of Deputy Leader of the UK Labour Party.

He gave an excellent Immortal Memory, peppered with very funny jokes and stories as well as a reflective overview of Burns’ internationalism and international standing.  Abraham Lincoln was a fan.

All speakers (and not n the order above) were great.  The address to the (impressive) haggis had some impressive knife skills on display.  A very enjoyable evening and hopefully some good fund raising for the centre.  In 2024 it will be the 100th anniversary of Eric Liddell’s triumph in Paris which will coincide with the Olympics due to be held in that city again.

Our son even won a prize in the raffle.  A good end to the day.
