The Thing... :: sils173

I spotted this strange thing attached to a Fatsia japonica in my back garden today.

On first look it appeared to be some form of fungus based nest of tiny eggs, something more likely to be found in a pond than on a plant. Spores clung to the leaf connecting to pearls that rested on top.

Should I be worried, should the authorities be contacted? 

Any ideas? 

Maybe something for Silly Saturday...
