Art Deco style chandelier

At the Edinburgh Festival Theatre today for our annual dose of outdoor adventure inspiration, the Banff Mountain Film Festival. We were in the gods and had a fabulous view of the central chandelier.

When i first lived in Edinburgh in the early 1990’s the theatre was in use as a bingo hall, despite having a long history as a theatre since 1892. David Bowie played here twice in 1973. It was renovated in 1994, totally modernised and with a glass frontage built on. The renovation was the subject of my undergraduate geography dissertation, a very pretentious and unfathomable piece of work!
