Dominic and the binoculars

Today's the day ……………………….. for a young ornithologist

For as long as I can remember, Dominic has had a fascination for birds.

Actually, he loves all kinds of animals - fish, insects - the lot really.  But there's something about birds that gets him really excited.  So to take him to the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Reserve at Caerlaverock, where the birds are big and showy - and very close - was a joy.

The questions came quick and fast and we were hard put to find all the answers, but we did our best!  Good job the wardens there are so knowledgeable and give a very good introduction - before they go out with the yellow barrow to feed the assembled masses of swans, geese and ducks.

I'm not sure how much Dominic could see through those binoculars - but he didn't need them.  They were right outside the big windows - a marvel to behold …………………….
