Leaf on ice
The surface this leaf was lying on wasn't exactly ice but more like frozen snow. "Leaf on frozen snow" didn't sound so great as a title though and so I changed it to ice.
I'd almost forgotten that I had to leave earlier for the sanctuary this afternoon as they close earlier on Saturdays and I only just made it in time to be able to walk a dog for a full hour. Two ladies were just leaving with Thelma when I arrived there but she spotted me and pulled on her lead to get closer to me and say hello. One of the ladies made the comment how obvious it was that Thelma knew me and that put a smile on my face the rest of the day.
Both Jimmy, the male Turkish Shepherd dog, and Loïka, the female Rottweiler were already being walked so this time they gave me Hercule, a black male cross breed who I've walked several times before and who so often manages to make me laugh with the funny cheeky look he almost always has in his eyes.
I hadn't had time to take any photos when I arrived at the park and I still had to find a blip after the walk with Hercule. The sky had been grey from the moment I got out of bed and it never got any brighter, not even for a moment. It looked like it was already starting to get dark when I left the sanctuary so I had to try and find an entry very quickly. Fortunately it didn't take too long until I noticed this dead leaf lying on the frozen ice and after a few very bad attempts I eventually managed to get a shot that I was quite happy with.
