The Journey

Perhaps we should have turned back before we even got out of Edinburgh.

I managed, accidentally, and while trying to alleviate feeling nauseous, to trap the sucker of E's sun blind in the car window. C's sense of humour failed and thankfully, the other Mum on board (mine) persuaded us, cheerily, to pull in to the nearest garage. I happily played the pregnant damsel in distress card and a lovely engineer saved the day, removed the sucker (pictured) and restored good cheer, in the car. We were on our way again.

Sadly this optimism was only maintained briefly (and falsely by me) as not much further down the road we hit blizzard conditions, terrifying lorries speeding along and conditions which meant our journey became a very quiet, long and focused one. That was until darling E woke up insisting "more" despite a very limited supply of treats and a rather strained rendition of Old MacDonald had a farm featuring every animal and vehicle we could think of! I knew the answer and I certainly wasn't going to ask, "Are we nearly there yet?"

A journey to remember but not to repeat.
