Midnight Running

Too busy to blip on the day today - gadding around in Ballydehob which kicked off with its first festival of the year - Bluegrass. Fuelled by a delicious supper at F & R's we headed to the village hall. First up a duo  from Belgium/Denmark who got us all going and then on came the band. They were stonking! I can't find a video that does them justice but take a listen here. The banjo player and the fiddle player were just gobsmacking but their sheer energy, togetherness and musicianship was astounding. They all hailed from Tennessee and Kentucky and had brilliant accents to match - y'all! We were a wild audience and they had a standing ovation at the end, plus two encores! They have a punishing tour of Ireland and the UK - how do they manage to keep that level of energy going? A great night.
