Middleton Lakes (RSPB Reserve)
We hoped to beat the weather for a walk today, but in the end the rain came and curtailed a walk across the RSPB reserve at Middleton Lakes. I took the long lens, but frustratingly there was little to see at close quarters, save for a few common birds attracted by the feed laid out by the wardens. Still, it's always a pleasure to watch a blue tit, one of our more colourful birds.
While I wasn't aware when I took it, we also saw a flock of Greylag Geese on the wing. They're a bird I always feel are synonymous with the Lake District, though I appreciate they can be found in other areas.
Day: 3.2 miles, Total: 138.4 miles
