Dumbbell

The boys had a good day today!

We started early with a training session before work. Then a rest for them, whilst I was at work.

A walk after work and then we finished with 2 Nose Work searches for each of the dogs before we went home to prepare their dinner.

My picture is Hero with a dumbbell. Not because we have taken up obedience trials, but because this dumbbell is safer for training than the wooden spoon we use as prop in our routine.
This dumbbell has a wooden bit in the middle, for the dog to hold, so it feels very much like the spoon in his mouth, but the end pieces are made from a light and rather soft material, so it won't hurt Hero's feet if he drops it. I use it when I train and reward moves, where Hero has to hold or carry the spoon. If I throw a toy as reward, Hero will drop the spoon to catch the toy and it could easily hurt his feet or front legs. This dumbbell is much safer to drop than the long and heavy spoon.

See you tomorrow
