The Scottish Colourists
Having spent the weekend in Edinburgh I thought I should visit the Scottish Colourists exhibition at the Abbott Hall Gallery in Kendal before the gallery closes for redevelopment on 1 Feb.. As well as the Colourists there were paintings from the Fleming Collection . Fleming being a Scottish banker who collected Scottish art. I liked this painting from the collection by Dorothy Johnstone who reached her peak in the 1920s but stopped painting and teaching when she was forced to give up teaching on marriage due to a bar on married women working.
