THIMUN 2020 #1
T(he) H(ague) I(nternational) M(odel) U(nited) N(ations) 52nd conference at the World Forum, was officially opened at 16.00 after a day of lobbying for the mandatory signatures required in order to debate their resolutions. In ordinary teacher-speak English, this translates as 11,600 steps walking around photographing my kids in committee discussion.
The weather is kinder than last year, but it is still uncomfortably cold and by the end of the evening there was a miserable drizzle.
The THIMUN (The Hague International Model United Nations) conference is a five-day simulation of the United Nations for secondary school students, which takes place at the end of January each year in the World Forum Convention Center in The Hague. THIMUN now attracts over 3,200 students and teachers from around 200 schools located in countries as far apart as Norway, Australia, China and Ecuador. The students themselves originate from more than 100 different countries. (thimun.org)
