Memento Park

A collection of defunct Communist-era statuary on the outskirts of the city - not everyone's idea of fun, perhaps, but for 'saddoes' like us who are also partial to a bit of local Public Transport it was clearly a Saturday morning no-brainer. A tram and a bus, no coffee bar and it was seriously cold too. Afterwards we came back to town for a civilised lunch, a bit of shopping, an even more civilised kaffee und kuchen (at the turn-of-the-century Central Cafe) and a very long stroll up Andrassy Avenue to Heroes Square. The long haul home (with it's deserted airport and early-hours detours through the wilds of Cambridgeshire) we'll draw a discreet veil over...
