My Garden Shed
There's a bit of a story behind this shed. Just before we moved into our house in Blackheath at the end of 2013 we had some building work done to customise the house to our liking. The house was built in 2005 in the early 1900s mountains style with wide weatherboards, timber double hung windows, corrugated iron roof and verandas front and back.
There were "modern" ranch slider doors at either end of the back veranda which we had removed and replaced with continuous newly milled weatherboards to match the rest of the house. I'd asked the builders to build me a simple, but aesthetic, garden shed and they came up with the idea of using the old lengths of weatherboard removed in the renovation. There weren't enough to do the whole shed but Catherine had the brilliant thought that we'd hardly see one end or the back of the shed, so they could be done in fibre cement board panels. The builders used their ingenuity and reclaimed windows and doors to come up with this delightful result. It's probably the most "over the top" garden shed in Blackheath but I love it.
With electricity, hot and cold running water, deep double tubs and adjacent benches, it's not only a great place to store garden paraphernalia but also to wash and dry our dogs and tend to our chooks, winter and summer.
The extra - just for fun - shows the shed in the 2015 snow fall. There was much less growth around it back then.
