Feelers

I boiled some eggs whilst a cockroach was exploring the pile of washing up nearby. I wanted it to overly investigate the hot hob to test the theory that cockroaches can survive extreme conditions, but it maintained a safe distance, its antennae flickering around, seeking crusty bits of food that I hadn’t cleaned up. I don’t think this is the most ‘cockroachy’ building* I’ve ever lived in, but I do come across some whoppers scuttling around.

Funnily enough I went down a blip rabbit hole and it’s six years to the day since I moved into a place in Cambodia that was the most cockroachy apartment I’ve lived in. It was a modern block but was near to open sewers so there was soon a proliferation of roaches and mould.
