Rangitata Gorge

We had a spur of the moment days today,prior to getting ready to go grocery hunting and stalking the supermarket shelves Marie said lets go to Christchurch, bugger the groceries off we went. 09:30 we were on the road and halfway to Temuka. We stopped in at the Palms for Sushi and a walk around the Mall shops then over to New Brighton,I have not been over this side since the earthquakes the destruction is just gutwrenching. We had a walk on the beach and along the Peir. Had a look at a whole lot of Kites flying they were great. We then went over to Sumner another walk on the beach a few photos of the cave and then it was time to head home a 2 hour trip. marie wanted to go a different way home so I took the inland scenic route from Darfield and stopped at the Rangitata Gorge and shot this image. Beautiful hot day and must say it was great.
