My one handed alarm clock

Farm workers probably only needed to know to the quarter hour but they would have severely dealt with if they turned up late for work. I have no idea where this came from. I found it in the house when I moved my mother nearly 40 years ago. It was in pieces in an ancient cardboard box. Maybe it came from my farming grandfather who died before I was born.
