Still life with daffodils
A momentous day today in the history of the UK as we leave the EU. While it was not something I initially voted for, my view is to be positive and to just get on with it now, no use complaining about it anymore. I don't think travel arrangements will be as bad as one thinks after the transition period, and who knows the impact it will have on the country.
A bit of a social day for me today, I walked Xena in the woods first thing this morning, then met a friend for coffee in our local coffee shop - then walked Xena again after lunch before meeting another friend for a catch up and coffee.
I also popped in to Waitrose to get some fish for dinner tomorrow, oh my goodness why is monk fish so expensive, much more than lamb or any other meat and yet we are encouraged to eat more fish. On a Friday they offer a 20% discount for Waitrose card holders which helps soften the ridiculous price of £30 per kg.
As Gavin is away Luke and Meriel are coming home tomorrow to spend the weekend with me which will be really lovely.
This weekend the Six Nations rugby starts, and my friend's son (he and Luke played in the 1st VIII at school together) has been selected to play for England. I hope that Ben Earl runs onto the pitch in their first match on Sunday - he has been selected before but has not played yet, so hopefully this time he gets his chance.
For Flower Friday I decided to mess about with making a still life, it may be a work in progress still.
I seldom enter photo competitions but the monthly RPS photo competition caught my eye as the theme was 'Winter' and I certainly have many winter images. I heard today that my image has been shortlisted but it is amongst some very good ones so don't think it will get anywhere, it's just nice to be shortlisted.
