"Much ado about nothing."?

Bought an Echeveria a while a go; usual criterion, it was emulating a Sparrow (Going Cheep).
Much as I admire the plant and the flower, this dwelling is not to its taste. Despite living on a window cill most of the time it still reaches for the light.  And before he corrects me, I know the word etiolation.
Thing is though, even in good light there's still that 'normous great stalk with a teeniweeny clump of buds atop. See insert.
