At the theater
Spring Awakening / Vorið vaknar by Steven Slater & Duncan Sheik
My husband, Daníel, is a theater critic for a national newspaper here in Iceland and I'm usually the lucky +1 when he is invited to a premiere.
Tonight we saw Spring Awakening, a musical based on a play originally written in 1891. The performance was excellent and I enjoyed some of the clever lighting and choreography and the musicians playing in the background, but the story is really dated and predictable. The stage was bare and cold and the costumes were monotonus, if that word can be used to describe costumes. So my feelings about the show were quite mixed when we walked back home in the snow.
